Herbal Jelly (Gui Lin Gao) with ice-cream

I made some herbal jelly (Gui Ling Gao) today. This time, I serve it with a scoop of ice-cream.

What is herbal Jelly?

Herbal Jelly also known as Gui Lin Gao  is made of various Chinese herbs. It has been treated as medication in the ancient time in China. Now, Gui Lin Gao becomes a popular dessert among many people today. It tastes slightly bitter. It is usually serve with honey.

What is the benefits of Gui Lin Gao?

Its herbal efficacy for improvement of bodily health benefits, include:

Relieve human body heat, keeping youthfulness, and improving skin.

Here is the recipe:


-1 packets of Gui Ling Gao powder from Eu Yan Sang.

-250ml water

-150gm rock sugar ( add sugar according to your taste)

Here is how I did:

1) Dissolve powder into water, stir well.

2) Boil 1 little of water with 150 gm sugar in a pot. When water boils, turn heat down to a simmer.

3) Stir in the dissolved powder for about 10 minutes.

4) Turn off the heat and quickly strain the Gui Lin Gao mixture.

5) Once after straining, again quickly pour the mixture into the small bowl.

6) Leave it cool in the open air then chill them in the fridge.

7) Serve cool. I added a scoop of ice-cream. Yummy!
